She stumbled forward once again, tripping over yet another root. 'damnit,' she swore in her irritation, swinging a fist at what she thought was a tree, completely missing. She muttered something beneath her breath, her brow twitching as she blindly searched for something to latch onto. A sinking feeling came over her as she soon found there wasn't anything to latch onto. I must be in a clearing she thought. Hopefully I'm getting close?

Rayna sighed a sigh of relief now that she had a guide out of the mist. "i was wondering where you had gone to" rayna said following behind Rai. toshiro was still unconcious and being carried.

SEG and llama said I could post if I felt like it. Hope no one minds.
Risa finally met her much-needed object to latch onto when she reached the end of the clearing quite abruptly. The hard concrete wall banged hard into her face, and with a startled yell of pain, she clutched her freely bleeding nose in brief agony, silently cursing her lack of attention and the laziness of letting her previously stretched out hand drop. In a matter of seconds, however, the mild injury was healed with the only repurcussion being a slight dizziness and a drunken sway to her posture. Then she examined the wall with her fingers more closely and was instantly reminded of Konohagakure's high wall.
"Finally!" she gasped out exasperatedly, breath leaving her lips in a solid whoosh of air, as if she had been punched in the stomach. (I don't know what was with that. The idea arose.)
Her steps were faster now, more confident, as she briskly walked to the left, keeping a reassuring hand on the concrete to ensure the knowledge of her location. Victorious thoughts filled her head, momentarily distracting her from her surroundings. Her hand met open space. After a mild panic attack, she turned ninety degrees towards the wall and felt forward, heart pumping faster as the empty space continued. Then relief flooded her tensed muscles and she relaxed as the familiar feel of a large wooden door laced under her palms. As she felt for the handle with which she would let herself into the village, a creeping worry filled her thoughts.
'Why are there no guards? Why is the mist reaching all the way to Konoha from the Mist? ...And isn't the Mist on an island?' With blind horror, she reached out for the engraving that she knew all ninja villages have carved into their entrance, declaring the allegiance of their resident ninjas. Four vertical lines met her quivering and cold fingers. 'This is... the Hidden Village of the Mist...' Her fingers continued, feeling out the kanji inscribed below the symbol. 'Genin Examination Center...' Finding no more writing, she let her hand slide down the wooden door deperately, making an odd squeaking sound that started her out of her reverie.
"That's right." Risa swiveled to face the voice from behind her, an instinctive reflex. Her hopefully temporary blindness and the swirling mist which grew thicker by the second clouded all sight of the speaker. "Hundreds of little children have died beyond those doors, forced to fight and eventually kill their opponent, whether he be friend or enemy. You knew of this, correct?" the stranger continued.
"Yes," she ground out, unhappy with her apparent disadvantage if the person chose to attack.
"Their bodies are buried, but what of their souls? Filled with the grief, and anger, and unfairness of their unlife... But, more than any of these other emotions they have felt, the strongest and most undying is betrayal. Betrayal of the friends they have trusted and grown up with. Many laid their lives down, refusing to fight. Those were killed. Some cried, some were emotionless, some so possessed by evil that they enjoyed the feeling of breaking a person's heart, soul, and body all simultaneously."
"I care why?" asked Risa, bored with the speech.
The person seemed confuzzled for a second. "I was trying for dramatics. It was supposed to be heartwrenching."
"No," replied Risa, crossing her arms. "Why are you even here?"
"Uhhh, plot twist?"
"Right then. Let me into the center so I can battle the ghosts of children."
"But I was supposed to go on to talk about how all the ghosts are in the fog and that's why it's special and stuff!"
"Meh. Lack of caringness."
Soooo, there it was. I got bored at the end. Sorry if you got bored too. Oh right, and I'm supposed to write this: c o c k as in Sasuke c o c ked an eyebrow at Naruto. I'm also supposed to write, Sasuke's a mansleeper, and we all know it. I'm sure this will make people angry. That is okay, because it's not my fault, I was told to do so. Just following orders, like Alicia flashing.

Rai breathed a sigh of relief as he and Rayna exited the growing mist. "Night grows closer, the mist expands." He glanced back at Rayna and Toshiro. "Soon all this will just be a memory of the worst day in my life." He offered a quirked smile. "I don't think I can take you back to your village," Rai swollowed, sorrow evidant in his eyes. "I can take you as far as the stream I told Risa to head to, I can lead you no further, but it is close enough, I believe." Rai sighed. The mist had begun throbbing agian, his double vision was making him feel sick, and most of all, it was calling to him, a constant whisper, threatening to throw him over the edge... agian.
