just figured I would fool around with KenRai's past a bit. Here you get to meet the fun lovin Telem, with appearance by Zabuza (before he died obviously)
Telem looked at the young boy beside him, the kid didn’t have a chance to know his parents, that life would never be open to him. KinRai, or Rai as Telem had taken to calling him watched the chunin practice, his eyes analyzing the world around him.
“What are you thinking, Rai?”
KinRai glanced at his teacher and sighed. “If this is this years chunin, I worry for the Villages.”
Telem grinned. Ever since the bloody mist had been called to a halt, nothing great seemed worth mentioning. “Zabuza!” Telem shouted to the ninja who glared back at him. “Zabuza, is Haku around? Rai is getting bored.”
“Haku is my tool, not your shortie’s play thing. Got it.” Zabuza glared.
Rai watched the exchange with little worry. Telem was Zabuza’s senior, in age and ability. Zabuza wouldn’t challenge Telem and win.
Telem beamed at Zabuza. “Come on old man, Haku needs a rest, and besides he’s the only one around Rai’s age who can challenge him.”
Zabuza glowered. “No.”
Telem shrugged. “It won’t do your boy any harm now would it old timer?”
Zabuza’s eyes darkened. “Demons do not need friends, Telem. Remember that.”
Telem watched as Zabuza walked away, the grin fell from his lips. “Remember lesson seventeen Rai?”
“Of course Telem-sensei.”
“Repeat.” Telem commanded.
“Demons, born or made must always respect the lines of humanity if they wish to live.”
Telem turned to his student, his eyes sparkled lightly, “Good boy.”
“I’m not a dog.” KenRai growled softly.
Telem laughed. “You sound like one.”
Rai scowled.
”Oh come on boy, now your acting like Zabuza.”
Rai’s lips twisted and he grinned. Back then grinning was easy.
